That's where the biggest changes have been made. Take some time and look at what's going on at the back end of the software. The better option by far was to make a new version that can support export to more platforms while using a language a bit more flexible when it comes to radically different architecture and environments.Īs for the 'same product' spiel - don't just look at video and screenshots. Which means pretty much every improvement the community made in Ace coudn't be used. Didn't pan out because the current engine wasn't able to support custom scripts when exporting to such a radically different language. They did attempt Android support in Ace in the past. Patching in support for more platforms isn't something you can just do with a wave of a hand and a few lines of code - especally when you have two completely differrent types of processor architecture involved. This sentence alone speaks volumes about your ignorance of how development works. Originalmente postado por Hylox, Bane of Titans:they should update that to support more platforms and higher resolutions instead of making this bull crap just to make more money on the same product This is something that users have been begging for and was only available on a highly limited and individual basis in VX ACE. I wouldn't call 2012 "not too long ago." As I already mentioned, exporting to mobile platforms, mac, pc and web and supporting javascript alone, is enough. For the most part though, most users like the 2D system.ĥ. People have actually created some 3D games with RPG Maker using pre-rendered graphics. Fun Fact: RPG Maker 3 for the PS2 was 3D. Not to mention, they don't charge extra for each platform. I would call that a massively significant update. I wouldn't say it's hard keeping up.Ģ: MV now supports javascript and exports to IOS, Android, Mac, PC and HTML5. VX Ace just came out not too long ago and they should update that to support more platforms and higher resolutions instead of making this bull crap just to make more money on the same productġ: VX Ace came out in 2012. IT SHOULD BE A 3D RPG MAKER IT'S 2015 FOR PITY'S SAKESĤ. it costs too much to keep up with the makersģ. Originalmente postado por Hylox, Bane of Titans:1. You can't get much more relevant as an engine than 'Is the best at what it does'. If there was a better engine out there that does what RM does, I'd switch to it. "I could implement A* pathfinding-based mouse movement in RPGBoss - or I could just use the A*-based mose movement RMMV comes with, spend 0 time, and gain the same amount of productivity." The more I can repeat this statement, substituting A* etc with whatever time-saving and useful feature, the less useful the engine is for rapid development compared to RM. I use engines because they provide time saving helper functions and tools - RB has scant few of those. I expect I'll be waiting quite some time. You can do 90% of what RPGBoss touts in any RPG Maker engine (even RPG Maker 95, minus cross-plat support) - and what looks like only maybe 5-10% of what you could do in RPG Maker in RPGBoss.Īnd, if you're coding from near-scratch, RPGBoss is at a functionality level that I'd go 'so why don't I just use ORK Framework in Unity, save myself some time, and gain even more functionality'.īut of course I'm still waiting to hear back from our resident RPGBoss expert on why it'll blow my socks off. I'm not sure what merit RPGBoss even has over RPGMaker, functionality wise.
